Castle Severn 2 Floor Standing Speakers. A pair of beautiful Castle Severn 2 compact floor standing speakers in rich mahogany real wood veneer. Excellent condition for the age, they sound as good as when new. The drivers are in excellent condition, both bass and treble. Castle were based in Skipton, Yorkshire, and were back in the past a cabinet making firm, which accounts for the high-quality finish of the cabinets.

They invested heavily in their technical speaker designs, with innovative and high-performance crossovers and carbon fibre drivers of their own design. They are a 2-way design, with a 6 inch carbon fibre bass driver and a soft dome tweeter. The bass port is at the bottom of the enclosure and allows the bass response to be tuned to the room by increasing or decreasing the gap using spacers, as well as allowing close positioning to walls. The sound of these speakers is surprisingly powerful for their discrete size.

They produce a deep but well-controlled bass, and have a smooth but detailed sound with great imaging, making them ideal for most types of music, from classical to rock and electronic. I have always felt they sound'just right', as long as they are on the end of some reasonably capable amplification and sources. They are able to be used single or bi-wired, or bi-amped, and include binding post links for single-wired use. British made Hi-Fi at it's best.
