Acoustic Research AR98LS Floorstanding AR Speakers Restored & Upgraded
The 12" and 8" drivers have been re-foamed using the correct foams imported from the US, to a very high standard, good for several more decades of enjoyment. All drivers are free of any dents or ripples, look and sound as new. The crossovers have been upgraded to LSI spec, all capacitors & resistors have been replaced and the binding posts upgraded to accept much thicker cable.
Cabinets are in great shape. The fabric was replaced with a new acoustically transparent black fabric imported from USA. The tops and sides are in good condition, a few chips to the edges. I doubt you'll find another set in as good a condition as this in the UK.
I've also been through the entire Teledyne era range of AR speakers. These produce some of the best sound thanks to the large soft-dome tweeters. Unfortunately the time has come to let go to some of my collection. You won't find any modern speakers readily available like this anymore thanks to their sealed acoustic suspension design.
