B&W P4 floor standing speakers. New ferrofluid

Beautifully built, lovely sounding B&W speakers from the 90s, with refurbished tweeters. Magazine gave them 5 stars, and there is a very positive Gramophone review that can be viewed online. At this age, the majority of B&W speakers using this tweeter seem to suffer from dried up ferrofluid which restricts the movement of the voice and leads to a dull sound.

That was the case here, and these sounded dull and pinched. These have had all the old iron filings from the motor assembly (not a quick job), and replaced with fresh ferrofluid. They now sound good as new. Fortunately the domes on this pair are in perfect condition and have never been dented.

The cabinets have a real cherry wood finish and are in very good condition. I can offer crossover upgrades that take these to another level of performance. Specification Type: Two-way, folded line bass reflex. Drive units: 165mm Kevlar cone bass/midrange; 26mm metal dome tweeter.

Sensitivity: 88dB for 2.83V at 1m. Nominal impedance: 8ohms (minimum 4.5 ohms).
