Bang Olufsen Beovox M150 Passive Speakers With Stands + Wires, Type 6412, Boxed

For sale matching pair of Bang and Olufsen Beovox M150 passive floorstanding loudspeakers in rosewood finish. They comes with the original floor stands with the fixing screws / spacers/ washers also included the rare, special DIN speaker wires (2 x 4m) to connect to an amplifier. This is an early model, Type number 6412, manufactured around 1981.

Condition is good for their 40 years of age, some marks / scratches around the casing, frets have few little holes, some fraying to the cloth, few cm aluminium trim is missing from one of them and plastic lugs have broken pieces but still good enough to hold on speaker. I like them better without the frets, they looks and sounds gorgeous. Please check pictures and short video here. Technicaly all tweeters / woofers working, the bass drivers seems refoamed in the past with more sturdy rubber surrounds. They were B&O's biggest and most perfected loudspeakers up to the time of their introduction, designed to reproduce sound with a natural, linear phase quality - even at very high sound pressure levels.

However, effective overload protection circuits enabled them to handle brief passages of music way above their ratings. Both speakers reproduced all types of music - from the faintest to the loudest notes - with extreme accuracy and precision, without adding to or subtracting from the signals they received. Behind this successful design lay a new acoustic technology, an integrated loudspeaker design which put Bang & Olufsen in control of all the parameters that affected the loudspeakers' performance. Each speaker featured a 3 unit configuration to ensure monitor-quality sound reproduction in the 80 - 22000 Hz frequency range.

The mid-range unit, a 7,5cm dome tweeter was aperiodically tuned to secure the exact frequency response characteristic required, while the super tweeter ensured excellent high frequency response. Pedestals were included as standard equipment.

Reluctant sale, we moving house so sadly I need to downsize my bulky HIFI gear. The speakers are huge and heavy - around 25kg each - so I recommend a personal collection. I have the original boxes with the polystyrene inserts, the boxes are very tatty.
