Cerwin Vega VS-15 powerful loud 3-way floorstanding speakers, VS150, 15 woofer
The VS stands for Velocity Sensitive and they sound great with any music type, although especially rock and electric dance, dark drum and bass is my guilty pleasure and these speakers really make the music come alive..... Most speakers just blast music at you and you can pin point the sound to the speakers, where as these Cerwin Vega speakers actually fill the room with sound and immerge you in it...... Out of all the Cerwin Vega models that were produced, there are three considered the best, D9, VS and DC.... I personally place the VS at the top for their clean detailed sound and the only reason why Im letting them go, is because I have the rare DC1515 four foot monsters and theres no room/point keeping them all.
15 bass woofer (aluminium frame). Self resetting PTC (hf) and overall fuse. They are around 20 years old (the older the better in terms of sound/build) and so do have the odd small mark/chip here and there, but saying this, they still look in excellent condition and also have their front dust grills, which are also in great condition. Now heres the thing about CVs woofers needing to be refoamed.... The even earlier speakers suffered from the foams completely deteriorating and simply crumbled from touch.... Now I believe CV redesign the foams to stop this from the 90s on and so now when the red (top coating) starts to dry out and crack, the actual black foam underneath is still in sound condition and the reason why I say this is because when I attempted to refoam a VS woofer before, I pushed my finger into the foam hard and all it did was break up the red top coat and the black foam underneath just sprung back into its original position, not stretched or split.... In the end I had to cut the foam out with a knife. So my ones have faded and are showing some cracks/marks, but I personally think they are fine underneath and will last for many years to come, they play absolutely fine. Also food for thought, any CV speakers that have been refoamed, may have been incorrectly done, causing the centre voice coil to be out of line and this will result in the driver destroying itself.....At least with mine they are genuine and havent been messed with. This speakers are massive and very heavy, so its Cash on collection only....
