The FIBHORN Model 9 is a floor-standing design with much of the astonishing aural capability of our flagship Model 3 at about 1/2 the price. When installed in an adequate size listening space, the Model 9 will project the full potential of your recordings and high-quality electronics to a level you have never heard before. The visual appearance of the Model 9 is unique. We fabricate the front sides of each cabinet from hand-selected and matched Adirondack harvested SPALTED MAPLE panels, 1 thick.

The variety of this type of wood is endless and we show you the exact panels available for your approval BEFORE we fabricate your pair. The FOSTEX 8 full-range driver develops the upper bass/lower mid-range region of the frequency spectrum more fully than any of the available smaller diameter units.

You will be astonished by the weight and heft. Of your music, particularly with large orchestral and vocal ensembles. The trade-off for this power, however, is that you must be more careful with the set-up than with the smaller driver speakers. We have found a way to construct inside our speaker boxes a functional embodiment of the IDEAL MUSIC REPRODUCER, as defined in the 1926 Maxfield-Harrison theoretical paper from the Western Electric Industrial Research laboratory. This treatise embodied the first scientific understanding of the laws of sound propagation on planet Earth. We have adapted these Maxfield-Harrison findings to modern electro/mechanical transducers in our FIBHORN speakers. THE EnABL PROCESS FOR ELIMINATING DISTORTION FROM VIBRATING MUSIC REPRODUCTION MEMBRANES. This brilliant invention of Mr. Purvine subject of a 1994 U. Patent as applied to the drivers we use in our designs puts our FIBHORN speakers in a class of audio excellence we share with few. If any, other speaker builders. The EnABL process removes irritating standing wave distortion that is generated by every audio speaker cone. You simply will be amazed at the difference the 4 paint molecule thick EnABL patterning makes on the realism of sound from our speakers compared to non-EnABLED speakers. Very high sensitivity, and very high accuracy, were critical requirements in the design of our Model 9 and this led us to select the FOSTEX FE206En. Our aerodynamically efficient horn cabinet yields 99 db sensitivity with this driver. The final test of our Model 9 design was in an acoustically excellent church sanctuary with seating for 150 people.

All who attended this audition agreed: the recorded musicians were IN THE ROOM. Our unique 4 chamber Fibonacci sequenced compression horn design has been configured inside a shallow depth box, perfectly proportioned to accept an 8 driver. The scientific fact that EVERY musical pitch exists on this numbers curve was established in the early 19th century, Maxfield & Harrison codified the construction of perfect mechanical devices (with these very same Fibonacci number proportions) for music reproduction in 1926 and we at FIBHORN began adapting the concept of these devices into our designs for electro-magnetic transducers in 2009. The Model 9 is one of six versions of this FIBHORN configuration.

To our knowledge, we are the ONLY speaker builder using this sound scientific basis for our horn cabinet creations. You can hear the difference with FIBHORN cabinets; the music is utterly relaxed and natural. The raised pattern applied to the driver and front panel horn vent (see photos) is at least 4 molecules of paint thick, as specified by the 1994 H. This pattern creates a perfect filter for removing "standing wave" distortions which are inevitable artifacts of all music reproduction from vibrating membranes. Purvine describe the process by which he arrived at his analytical insight is to experience the moment of creation for one of the great breakthroughs in audio design.

To hear a pair of speakers incorporating his EnABL process is to enter a place of astonishing realism for recorded music, inhabited by no other sound generating devices. Purvine (inventor of the EnABL process) describes the sound of speakers treated with his invention as Wall to Wall Sound. This is accurate and we would add that the music is liberated from the boundaries of the cabinet. You hear the music in the original ambient space. Great analog recordings in particular really come to life, with a 3-dimensional presence that is truly astonishing. Combining the EnABL process with our unique FIBONACCI proportioned horn cabinet elicits performance from quality full-range drivers that is at the very pinnacle of the possible. There is no edginess, no thick overwrought bass, no "hot" midrange. Every pitch is treated with equal energy, producing music that is convincingly real.

One listen and you will find it impossible to return to ordinary speakers. The Model 9 is at its best when placed about 5 to 8 feet apart, 3-6 feet from the back wall and as far as possible from side walls. Your listening room will be optimum if it can allow you to use these dimensions, with a substantial amount of space for the music to convincingly develop. 16' x 12' is probably the minimum size for your space.

We provide matching wood shims to give your Model 9s a slight rearward tilt; sometimes this enhances the overall sound, depending on your room configuration. Try it, listen and decide.
