The serial numbers are consecutive so they are a matched pair. The only amplifiers these speakers have been used with are the Lindley modified Quad IIs which at 15Watts shows their efficiency. So they would be a good partner for a lowish powered valve or transistor amplifier. Sound wise, the good quality drive units coupled with simple crossover give this system an efficient, clean open sound with extended but not overbearing bass.
The cabinet is believed to be constructed of a cylindrical alloy plate covered with padded faux leather, which together virtually eliminate resonance. They are believed to be transmission line with vent at the front. The heavier than expected weight would indicate internal baffles are inside. Comments online seem to indicate some similarity to the JR149 with greater efficiency and more extended bass. Cosmetic condition is generally good, with marks that have been noticed.One speaker has the covering material coming away on one side, and one of the covers has become sightly deformed. The top and base material appears to be a form of resin, closely resembling marble.
