Key to the superbly realistic sound from the Concept 40 is the cabinet design, which features a unique way of isolating the cabinet. Effectively it's a cabinet within a cabinet, separated by a resonance-cancelling compound called Gelcore. This construction style of cabinet massively reduces the resonance or'voice' of the cabinet, for far less distortion.

Proved to work by laser measurement, the Concept 40 simply sounds clearer, more natural and presents a sonic challenge to more expensive speakers. With twin 125mm bass cones, the Concept 40 provides a deep, powerful bass. Large woofer magnets ensure that the bass is kept under firm control and gives these speakers a foot-tapping timing that you don't always associate with larger speakers.

Matching up to such an impressive cabinet is no easy feat, but the drive units don't let the side down. The soft dome tweeter has a smooth and refined sound that, although detailed, never becomes harsh. The tweeter unit is also decoupled from the rest of the cabinet, so it isn't affected by vibration from the bass woofer units - yet another impressive piece of engineering. For maximum stability and isolation, the Concept 40 speakers come with dynamically balanced, tripod plinths. Three adjustable floor spikes keep the speaker level and stable on any floor surface, whilst also presenting the minimum contact possible with the floor.

This not only ensures the speaker is stable but also minimises floor vibrations from affecting the sound purity. Big enough to fill a medium to large room with sound but compact enough not to overwhelm it, the Concept 40s are beautifully discreet speakers.
