The 3050i speakers from Q Acoustics are top class floor standing speakers with dual 165mm and 22mm precision drivers. These speakers have extra stability from the included rubber feet or spikes alongside rear outrigger plinths. Due to the effect of cabinet resonance Q Acoustics have utilised Helmholtz Pressure Equalizer (HPE) technology, which converts pressure to velocity and therefore, reduces the overall pressure gradient within the cabinet. HPE technology is perfect with taller loudspeakers that can resonate at a single frequency.

The internal structure of the 3050i's highlights Q Acoustics' vast knowledge of minimising organ piping using Helmholtz Pressure Equalisation (HPE). Utilising HPE significantly improves the bass response linearity. The cabinet has also been stiffened by Point-to-Point (P2P) bracing which helps to reduce intrusive cabinet vibrations. Also, the rear facing ports can be filled with foam bungs, which are included, to help when room positioning is less than ideal. The bass level can be lowered to compensate, but the extension and definition are increased. The low profile binding posts are an new additon and have sockets deep enough to accept 4mm Banana Plugs. The normal terminal panel cut-outs have been removed for greatly improved structural integrity to the cabinet. The 3050i speakers have dual 6.5 cones which are precision formed from an impregnated coated paper which have been coupled with a newly developed, low-hysteresis, rubber surround.

The coated paper cones meet the equilibrium between tension and self-damping, so the driver can accelerate very fast without flexing and stops accurately, without any undesirable resonance. The tweeters have been decoupled from the baffle with a suspension system. The woofer and tweeter have also been physically separated to minimise the unwanted vibrations from the woofer, which will degrade audio performance. Q Acoustics are extremely proud of their new cabinet designs, since as it preserves the subtle details in recordings which helps the ear to perceive a solid 3D soundstage.
